.: Affection:.

As humans we are all different.
We speak differently. We think differently. We act differently.
But we are all unified in the fact that we all need love.

Love of God. Love of others. & Love of ones self.

I remember learning in my Psychology 1010 class at Snow College that affection is one of the most fundamental needs that has to be met in order to be able to function.

See Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

It's the third most important need!

So what does affection mean to you?

That's a question that I have had to ask myself over and over as I have come into new relationships. I am always curious to know what holding hands means to others. Or what a kiss might mean to the one that I am falling for. It's a source of great anxiety for me, wondering if it means that same thing to him.

There is almost nothing worse than expressing that affection towards someone that you care about and not knowing what they think or feel. Or finding out later that what you expressed meant something completely different to them than it did to you.

There can be so much hurt that comes from not knowing. So I just wanted to express what affection means to me...

A hug means...
I care about you.

Holding hands means...
I feel safe with you.
I could be falling for you.

A kiss means...
Cheek= I respect you.
Forehead= I adore you.
Lips= I love you.
Neck= I want you.

Cuddling means...
I want to be near you.

**Just a side note...

Sadly, I haven't always felt this way about what affection means to me. I had very, very obscured views on affection and how to show affection when I was younger. And that has let to much heart ache and regret. But that doesn't change how I feel now.

.: Hidden Blessings:.

I am AMAZED by just how blessed I am. And even though the last 4 months have been so incredibly hard for me, I know that I have so so much to be grateful for.

I am so grateful for yesterday...

Yesterday my car, whom I affectionately named Buela, decided that she had had enough of me and my shenanigans. So she decided that she would overheat on me and make me call a tow truck. Which then caused me to breakdown and call my daddy for help.

The reason I am grateful for this chaos...

I found peace in my time of need. I was able to read my scriptures, and take some much needed me time to reflect on my goals and what is important to me. I was surprised at how quickly peace came to me and I felt calm.

Then later, I was able to go for a nice long walk and continue to think. I love walks at sunset.
{preferably on a beach in 80-85 degree weather}

I feel so at peace with life.
I am happy
I am loved

What more could I ask for?

.: I ♥ Conference!:.

Here's one of my favorite talks...

Point of Safe Return
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

During my training to become an airline captain, I had to learn how to navigate an airplane over long distances. Flights over huge oceans, crossing extensive deserts, and connecting continents need careful planning to ensure a safe arrival at the planned destination. Some of these nonstop flights can last up to 14 hours and cover almost 9,000 miles.

There is an important decision point during such long flights commonly known as the point of safe return. Up to this point the aircraft has enough fuel to turn around and return safely to the airport of departure. Having passed the point of safe return, the captain has lost this option and has to continue on. That is why this point is often referred to as the point of no return.

Are There Points of No Return in Our Lives?
Satan, “the father of all lies” (2 Nephi 2:18), “the father of contention” (3 Nephi 11:29), “the author of all sin” (Helaman 6:30), and the “enemy unto God” (Moroni 7:12), uses the forces of evil to convince us that this concept applies whenever we have sinned. The scriptures call him the “accuser” because he wants us to feel that we are beyond forgiveness (see Revelation 12:10). Satan wants us to think that when we have sinned we have gone past a “point of no return”—that it is too late to change our course. In our beautiful but also troubled world, it is a sad reality that this attitude is the source of great sorrow, grief, and distress to families, marriages, and individual lives.

Satan tries to counterfeit the work of God, and by doing this he may deceive many. To make us lose hope, feel miserable like himself, and believe that we are beyond forgiveness, Satan might even misuse words from the scriptures that emphasize the justice of God, in order to imply that there is no mercy.

What Is the Lord’s Plan for Our Safe Return?
Protection against the influence of the devil comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the good news that Jesus Christ has made a perfect Atonement for mankind. It is the message of love, hope, and mercy that there is a reconciliation of man with God.

Sin is the willful transgression of divine law. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the gift of God to His children to correct and overcome the consequences of sin. God loves all of His children, and He will never cease to love and to hope for us. The plan of our Heavenly Father is clear, and His promises are great: “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world … might be saved” (John 3:17).

Christ came to save us. If we have taken a wrong course, the Atonement of Jesus Christ can give us the assurance that sin is not a point of no return. A safe return is possible if we will follow God’s plan for our salvation.

We have received this plan from the highest authority in the universe, even God, our Heavenly Father. This plan was prepared from before the foundation of the earth. It is a great plan of happiness, a plan of mercy, a plan of redemption, a plan of salvation. This plan enables us to experience a physical existence, including mortality, a time of probation, and to return to the presence of God and live in eternal happiness and glory. It is explained in the doctrines of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

Following this plan has beautiful eternal consequences for us individually, for our families, for generations to come, and even for generations who went before. The plan includes divine reconciliation and forgiveness.

How Is Divine Forgiveness Possible?
We acknowledge that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), but we also declare with firmness that repentance and forgiveness can be as real as sin.

The Atonement of Jesus Christ causes each person to be accountable for his or her individual sins. We will overcome the consequences of individual sin by claiming the blessings and benefits of the Atonement.

President David O. McKay said, “Every principle and ordinance of the gospel of Jesus Christ is significant and important … , but there is none more essential to the salvation of the human family than the divine and eternally operative principle [of] repentance” (Gospel Ideals [1953], 13).

“For salvation cometh to none … except it be through repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Mosiah 3:12).

It is not repentance per se that saves man. It is the blood of Jesus Christ that saves us. It is not by our sincere and honest change of behavior alone that we are saved, but “by grace that we are saved, after all we can do” (2 Nephi 25:23). True repentance, however, is the condition required so that God’s forgiveness can come into our lives. True repentance makes “a brilliant day [out] of the darkest night” (Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness [1969], 362).

What Does True Repentance Consist Of?
We need a strong faith in Christ to be able to repent. Our faith has to include a “correct idea of [God’s] character, perfections, and attributes” (Lectures on Faith [1985], 38). If we believe that God knows all things, is loving, and is merciful, we will be able to put our trust in Him for our salvation without wavering. Faith in Christ will change our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that are not in harmony with God’s will.

True repentance brings us back to doing what is right. To truly repent we must recognize our sins and feel remorse, or godly sorrow, and confess those sins to God. If our sins are serious, we must also confess them to our authorized priesthood leader. We need to ask God for forgiveness and do all we can to correct whatever harm our actions may have caused. Repentance means a change of mind and heart—we stop doing things that are wrong, and we start doing things that are right. It brings us a fresh attitude toward God, oneself, and life in general.

What Are the Fruits of Forgiveness?
True repentance blesses our lives with the effects of the Atonement: we feel God’s forgiveness and His peace, and our guilt and sorrow are lifted away; we enjoy the influence of the Spirit in greater abundance; and we are better prepared to live with our Heavenly Father.

President Spencer W. Kimball taught: “The essence of the miracle of forgiveness is that it brings peace to the previously anxious, restless, frustrated, perhaps tormented soul. … God will wipe away … the tears of anguish, and remorse, … and fear, and guilt” (The Miracle of Forgiveness, 363, 368).

Jesus promised, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: … Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

The prophet Alma, who was reclaimed from sin to happiness by God’s forgiveness, declared, “Wickedness never was happiness” (Alma 41:10). He had witnessed the bitter pains of sin, but he also spoke with excitement about the happiness that accompanies true repentance and forgiveness: “Yea, I say unto you, … there can be nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy” (Alma 36:21). Alma concluded with powerful and wise counsel to all who seek forgiveness: “And now, … I desire that ye should let these things trouble you no more, and only let your sins trouble you, with that trouble which shall bring you down unto repentance” (Alma 42:29).

How Can We Know That God Has Forgiven Us?
President Harold B. Lee said, “When you have done all within your power to overcome your mistakes, and have determined in your heart that you will never repeat them again, then … peace of conscience [can come to you] by which you will know that your sins have been forgiven” (in “Law of Chastity Vital, Girls Told,” Church News, Sept. 2, 1972, 7).

Once we have truly repented, Christ will take away the burden of guilt for our sins. We can know for ourselves that we have been forgiven and made clean. The Holy Ghost will verify this to us; He is the Sanctifier. No other testimony of forgiveness can be greater.

The Lord said, “He that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven” (D&C 1:32; emphasis added). And He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). “Be faithful and diligent … and I will encircle thee in the arms of my love” (D&C 6:20).

And He declared, “Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more” (D&C 58:42).

Satan will try to make us believe that our sins are not forgiven because we can remember them. Satan is a liar; he tries to blur our vision and lead us away from the path of repentance and forgiveness. God did not promise that we would not remember our sins. Remembering will help us avoid making the same mistakes again. But if we stay true and faithful, the memory of our sins will be softened over time. This will be part of the needed healing and sanctification process. Alma testified that after he cried out to Jesus for mercy, he could still remember his sins, but the memory of his sins no longer distressed and tortured him, because he knew he had been forgiven (see Alma 36:17–19).

It is our responsibility to avoid anything that would bring back old sinful memories. When we continue to have a “broken heart and a contrite spirit” (3 Nephi 12:19), we may trust that God will “remember [our sins] no more.”

How Does Extending Forgiveness Help Us to Receive God’s Forgiveness?
Jesus taught us eternal truth when He taught us to pray: “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. … For, if ye forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if ye forgive not … neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (3 Nephi 13:11, 14–15).

Therefore, extending forgiveness is a precondition to receiving forgiveness.

For our own good, we need the moral courage to forgive and to ask for forgiveness. Never is the soul nobler and more courageous than when we forgive. This includes forgiving ourselves.

Each of us is under a divinely spoken obligation to reach out with pardon and mercy and to forgive one another. There is a great need for this Christlike attribute in our families, in our marriages, in our wards and stakes, in our communities, and in our nations.

We will receive the joy of forgiveness in our own lives when we are willing to extend that joy freely to others. Lip service is not enough. We need to purge our hearts and minds of feelings and thoughts of bitterness and let the light and the love of Christ enter in. As a result, the Spirit of the Lord will fill our souls with the joy accompanying divine peace of conscience (see Mosiah 4:2–3).

My dear brothers and sisters, my dear young friends, when the captain of a long-range jet passes the point of safe return, and the headwinds are too strong or the cruising altitudes too low, he might be forced to divert to an airport other than his planned destination. This is not so in our journey through life back to our heavenly home. Wherever you find yourselves on this journey through life, whatever trials you may face, there is always a point of safe return; there is always hope. You are the captain of your life, and God has prepared a plan to bring you safely back to Him, to your divine destination.

The gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ provides us at all times and at all places with the blessings of repentance and forgiveness. Because of this gift, the opportunity to make a safe return from the disastrous course of sin is available to all of us.

For this I give thanks to our Heavenly Father, and of this I bear testimony with all my heart and soul in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

.:Write from the ♥:.

So it's been a while since I have just written what I am feeling.
I love to write
and I find that it brings such clarity
to my mind and my heart.
I love being able to express my feelings without fear of judgement or criticism.
I love knowing that my thoughts, feelings, fears, hopes, doubts, goals, dreams etc. are mine and are valid.

So lately I have been doing a lot of soul searchingwhen it comes to dating and relationships.
I have come to the realization
that I still have some deep rooted issues
regarding marriage.
I am scared of marriage and scared of falling in love again. And I am even more scared of the possibility that they will fail. Again.

I feel like my is still so guarded from the last time that I fell in love with someone.

It's so scary giving someone your heart and trusting them not to break it.

I did that once, sadly it was shattered into a million tiny pieces.

I am finally starting to feel like the pieces are being put back into place, but I have to be very gentle with it and give it time to continue to heal.

I know that before I can go into another relationship, I have to be best friends with that person. I have to trust that person. I have to know that that person understands me and the experiences that have made me who I am.

Life is too short to not feel safe with the one that you love.

9/11 I remember

I remember not being able to pull myself away from my TV that day.

I was in the 9th grade.

I remember walking to Seminary and hearing my Seminary teacher tell us about the Twin Towers being hit by a plane... I had no idea what they were, but as soon as I saw the wreckage, I was heart broken for all of those men and women and their families.

So today I remember and am grateful for the freedoms that we have, and the men and women who keep it that way.

To you, Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

.: Life changing experiences:.

It's crazy what almost dying does to a person.
I can't even believe that it was a

month ago today

that I got admitted to the Utah Valley Hospital in Orem.

and I can't believe how
that experience
literally change my life

FOREVER!

Here are just a few things that I learned that have really impacted my life, my attitude and most importantly my testimony and my faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ. And my everlasting love for my Father in Heaven.

... ... ... ... ... ... ...

1. God is the Captain in our lives.

He literally knows each one of us personally because he personally created us. He knows how to get us to our destiny safely and he knows exactly which storms of hardship we have to face in order to grow, while learning to rely wholely on Him.

One of my favorite quotes right now is this:

" A ship is safest in the harbor, but that's not what ships were made for."

2. Trials will come.

The day before I went to the hospital I was literally yelling at God for not being there for me through this month of Hell. I felt like He had abandoned me in my time of need. Well I found out through some seriously humbling experiences that God was there all along and that He really did know best. I was the one that abandoned Him. I also learned that Trials will come.

God doesn't send us trials so that we can prove to Him whose side we are on. He already knows whose side we will choose. He sends us trials so that we can prove to ourselves and decide for ourselves whose side we are on.

3. Trust in the Lord

I learned that it is so much better to trust in the Lords plan for me rather than try to do things my own way. I am so grateful for the oppurtunities that I have had to be able to exercise my faith in Him. I love knowing that God has a plan for me, and that it truely is for me to be eternally happy.

I think that Pres. Monson put it best in the title of an article he wrote for the Sept. 1997 Ensign. "Tears, Trials, Trust, Testimony."

.: The wonderful world of.... Hospitals??:.

So ladies and gents. What did you do for the 4th of July?

I wish I could say that I went swimming, camping, fishing even.. but nope! I got to spend my favorite holiday in my not so favorite place... The hospital.

I have been one truly sick puppy for the past 2 weeks. I am writing this from my hospital room. I have been here for 5 days now! My, how the time flies when you are "having fun" LOL.. Here's the whole super fun story.

Saturday June 27:
Started out with a lil bit of a sour throat, nothing too major.... Watched my nieces all day and by the time their dad came to get them I had no energy and I had a mild fever....

Sunday June28: This illness hit me like a Mack truck. I started having trouble breathing and I had absolutely no energy to even get out of bed. Finally around 9:00pm My mom forced my sister to come rescue me and take me to the ER cause my mom could tell that I couldn't breath. Well we got to the ER and waited forever.. I mean FOREVER on crack, forever. Got into the little room, sat there for a while and then the Dr. came in. Asked me what my most prominent symptoms were, and said, "Do you want the good news, or the bad news first." I said " I really could care less right now." Dr."Well good news is you're not dying.... bad news is you're sick, go home take some Nyquil." The idiot was in there for literally 2 min. Prescribed me so Lortab of all things and sent me home. Didn't even listen to my lungs, didn't touch me, anything!! MORON! So I went home did what he said....

Monday- Thursday..... Got sicker, sicker, sicker.... My sister had to take me to the Insta-care in Orem. They actually got me in fairly quickly. Listened to my lungs, took a chest x-ray and gave me an antibiodic and some cough medicine with Codine in it to help me sleep.
( just a side note, I found out that I do not do too well with Codine. You're not supposed to be puking your guts out for days apperently) LOL

Friday: Still SICK SICK SICK Literally on my Death Bed, sick. I called my mom at like 8 or 9 and she could just tell that I was really miserable. So she got in her car at about 11 PM and drove for 3 hours all the way from Idaho Falls. She got there at about 3. I slept for about an hour before I woke up so miserable. She rushed me to the ER again and they got me right in, hooked me up onto and IV and started pumping me with all sorts of good drugs.( what's the street name for some of these, for reals LOL JK!!!) I HAVE PNEUMONIA! They took another chest x-ray and surprise surprise, the Pneumonia had spread since the last x-ray on thursday.

So I got to be admitted to the hospital for the wonderful 4th of July celebrations. It was super duper fun. I started feeling so much better Sat. & Sun. But then by Mon. I was on death's door again. I was puking all day and just so so weak. Couldn't hardly move or anything. They took another x-ray and it has yet again gotten worse. The Pneumonia had spread all over my lungs by now. Finally by about midnight monday i started feeling better. My mom gave me a lil foot bath/massage and she massaged my back and i started to relax.

Tuesday: I started feeling a million times better.

Wednesday. I am almost home free! I felt so good. I got my hair done, my mom gave me a mani/pedi. It's been such a wonderful blessing to have her here. I would be dead right now if she hadn't come saved me literally. I am so greatful for her and for her willingness to sacrifice her sleep and time to come be with me. I am the luckiest girl in the world!

Thursday ( Today) Woke up after the best nights sleep I have had since I got here. They took me for another chest x-ray. They say that the gunk is moving out nicely. And now I am down to 2 units on my O2(oxygen) I had been up to 5 units all week. Except for when they first brought me in I was at a whopping 10 units!!! That's crazy. So needless to say. I have had quite the adventure, and as soon as I get out of here I am gonna go party it up, Finally get to have the summer that I have been missing out on!

Love you all so much for your prayers and concern!

Life is good! God is even better!

You know what the pathetic part is? I totally broke my left in the same place 5 or 6 years ago. Crazy huh?

I guess that's what I get for not drinking milk like i should.

*My foot isn't broken as badly as this picture shows. It's just a chip in the same spot.*

.: Y?:.

So on Saturday I went on a fun date with my friend Spencer. We got subway and then drove to Provo and hiked the "Y." I haven't ever done that before. So it was a lot of fun. We got up there at about 7 and so while we were hiking we got to watch the sunset. And then we got to the top and ate and talked and watched the sun go down. It was really peaceful and beautiful. I had a lot of fun with Spence and he is such a great guy. He is the type of guy that makes me want to be a better person.

WOO HOO for fun dates with good guys!

.: Defy Gravity:.

So last night I went to the most amazing show!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this show! I am so incredibly lucky to have gotten to go because the tickets sold out so fast! Thankfully my friend's generous family had an extra ticket.

They had asked me if I wanted to buy it, but I didn't have enough.

Well then they told me that if I could pay half they would cover the other half for my Birthday!

SO SO AWESOMELY GENEROUS!

Here are a couple videos of my favorite songs. I loved the whole show, but these definatly stood out to me!
